Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center
Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center is a 50-acre certified organic farm on conserved land along the Connecticut River in East Thetford, Vermont, just minutes from Norwich, Vermont, and Hanover, New Hampshire. The farmstand and the Hello Café are open late April through October.
Farmstand, Greenhouses & On-farm Coffeehouse
Come spring the greenhouses are filled with annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, bedding plants, and culinary herbs. Throughout the season, the farmstand offers an abundance of organically grown fresh vegetables, local artisan cheeses, jams, honey, maple syrup, gardening tools and Fair Trade Mexican garden pottery, as well as you-pick and picked-for-you organic strawberries, blueberries and pumpkins. Wireless Internet service is available, along with organic Fair Trade coffee, espresso drinks and farm-baked goods in the Hello Café, our on-farm coffeehouse.
Community Supported Agriculture
Cedar Circle is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm that supplies up to 175 families and individuals in the Upper Valley with weekly shares of organic vegetables, berries, and fresh flowers, June through October. The farm also participates in the Norwich, Lebanon, and Hanover farmers' markets.
Annual Harvest Festivals
The Annual Strawberry Festival in late June and the Pumpkin Festival in October draw hundreds of visitors from around New England for family fun, horse-drawn wagon rides, strawberry and pumpkin picking, children’s activities, live music, guided farm tours, and farm-fresh food.
Dinners in the Field, Cooking Classes, Farmer Workshops & School Programs
The Education Center offers Dinners in the Field, canning and freezing classes, New Farmer Workshops, a Farmer Outreach Program, and farm tours for schools. The staff also works with local schools to raise awareness about the importance of local and organic food, and to increase the use of fresh local foods in school cafeterias.
On-Farm Renewable Energy, Food Research & Food Politics
Managed by Kate Duesterberg and Will Allen, author of The War on Bugs, the farm has implemented numerous on-farm renewable energy projects. In addition, many staff members are active in food research and food politics. Cedar Circle Farm is a member of Farms Not Arms, the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA-VT), the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Working Group (NESAWG), the Organic Consumers Organization, Rural Vermont, Slow Food USA, Valley Food and Farm, Vermont Farms Association, Vermont Fresh Network, and the Vermont Land Trust, and are supporters of the Upper Valley Localvores.
