Harvest Festivals

Sunday, June 29, and Sunday, October 12, mark the 2008 6th Annual Strawberry and Pumpkin Festivals [PDF]—rain-or-shine harvest celebrations that draw more than 1,200 people of all ages from the Upper Valley and throughout New England. Horse-drawn wagon rides to and from the strawberry or pumpkin patch, kid’s activities, live music, draft horse demonstrations, guided farm tours, cooking demonstrations, and a farm-fresh food concession keep families entertained throughout the day, and coming back year after year.

Take a virtual tour of our strawberry and pumpkin festivals.

Canning and freezing workshops

[These two workshops are sold out for this year! Make sure you're on our email list if you'd like to hear about them next summer: a sign-up form is on the left.]

Due to the growing popularity of the localvore movement and the desire to eat more locally grown foods year around, the art of the pantry and “putting food by” are making a comeback. As part of our education program, Cedar Circle Farm offers annual canning and freezing workshops. These three-hour hands-on classes, instructed by our baker/chef Elise Bratcher, are held in the bakery kitchen from 9 to noon. Join us to learn the basic techniques of canning, August 23, and of freezing, August 30, using organic vegetables from our fields—and take home tasty treats for your winter pantry of freezer!

Dinners in the Field

[Sadly, our dinners are over for this summer; if you'd like to get advance word for next summer, make sure you're on our email list, a sign-up form is on the left of this page.]

Dinners in the Field are another favorite summer activity on the farm. Now in our fourth season, the 2008 dinners take place Saturday evenings, July 26, August 2, and August 9, from 5:30 to 8:30. Tables are set with linens, china, and glassware, under tents along the banks of the Connecticut River. These popular dinners often feature a guest chef or food producer, and freshly harvested and prepared foods from the farm, served in a beautiful and tranquil setting in the company of friends and neighbors.

Tomato Tasting

[The tomato tasting event is over . . . but our farmstand is brimming over with organic heirloom tomatoes for your own tasting parties!]

Join us to celebrate tomatoes! With an heirloom tomato tasting, artisan cheese, and tomato pairings, and featuring cheesemakers John and Janine Putman of Thistle Hill Farm. Live music, held by the river, Friday, August 22. For more information, download our flyer (PDF).
