Rosemary Palmer, greenhouse manager
Homegrown in the Northeast Kingdom… Rosemary Palmer hails originally from East St. Johnsbury, Vermont. She retired from the world of business in 2005 and turned her focus toward her lifelong passion of growing and joined Cedar Circle Farm as a greenhouse and farmstand worker. In 2006, drawn to New York City to join chef husband, Horace, Rosemary left the farm, only to return the following year to take on a shared managerial greenhouse role with our long-time greenhouse worker, Judy Vaughan.
I enjoy the entire growing process… whether it be with flowers, herbs, or vegetables and Cedar Circle Farm offers me ample opportunity to enjoy the full experience. I once bought a wooden angel at Norwich’s Floribunda to place in my garden and it reads: To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow. For me, that says it all. That is what I am about… planting the seed and nurturing it to fruition. To be a caretaker is a gift, a challenge, and offers great rewards. I see it as a mutual exchange, an ongoing dialog where I feed the plants and the plants feed me.
To me, gardening and growing is magical… it is magic when a seed germinates and its evolution unfolds before you. This simply never ceases to “blow my mind.” That is why I am here at Cedar Circle Farm… it’s all about the magic. And on my days off, I like to share “the magic” with my grandson.
